Table image at a poker table is a very powerful concept. Your image is based on how the other players view
you. They can see you as aggressive vs tight, skilled vs dead money, on your game vs unfocused. All of these
perceptions will play into how other players react to you.

What is a Poker Table Image?
Changing Poker Table Image
You want to put the fear into someone at the table. That will attract the sharks. They will smell weakness and
come for the blood in the water. My favorite method is to get in a scrap with an aggressive player, a real shark,
and show him a bluff. He will go on tilt, all the other players will fear you and you will open a wound on the
shark. The other players will see him as an easier target and all start taking pot shots at him, making his life
miserable. His table image goes down, yours goes up. Win, win, baby!
Put the beatdown on them!
Poker Table Image during the Poker Game
As the game goes on, everyone's table image can change. Is that player getting sleepy? Is she getting
impatient, because she hasn't played a hand in a while? Is he steaming from a bad beat? How many beers
has he drank? Does she feel like she is on an unlucky run? All of these things will lead to being attacked if you
are perceived as weak. Stay strong at the table. Get up and walk around if you need to. Don't stay at the table
and sulk, ever! You will be swarmed by all the other players.
Initial Poker Table Image
When you first walk up to a table, you will present a certain image. It will be a summation of all the other
players' pre-judgements about you. How old are you? Male / female? Asian? Wearing sun glasses? Wearing
a wind breaker (always a sign to watch for! In a casino, because it gets so hot/cold over 10-12 hour sessions,
the pros will wear easily -removed wind breakers, tourists would not have packed them)? Are you drunk/tired?
All of these questions will help the current players at the table determine how they will initially play against you.
Remember at this point, they are not playing YOU, they are playing your table image. Capitalize on that!
